Wow, swimming is really hard. We’ve had two team swim workouts so far, and I have been absolutely gassed after 800 m of drills and easy laps. That’s no good. I’m going to have to go all out for 900m in the open water, fending off feet and elbows and grabbing breaths in between waves. I’m glad it’s still four months to race day.
I was quickly reminded that my exercise struggles are nothing compared to the effort and fight in the people battling and recovering from blood cancers.
As per usual with TNT, I was quickly reminded that my exercise struggles are nothing compared to the effort and fight in the people battling and recovering from blood cancers. One of my teammates, waiting on the wall for me after a set of kicking drills in which he completely left me in his wake, drops this gem in a quick conversation with the coach. His feet are super tingly, because of the neuropathy caused by chemotherapy. An autologous bone marrow transplant and an aggressive regimen of chemotherapy has put his lymphoma in remission. The former firefighter is less than one year from transplant and now kicking my ass in the pool weekly.

We’re 4 months from race day, and I’m a little over 1/4 of the way to my goal. Please help people like my training partner, fighting and beating blood cancers, by donating to LLS today.
